The state of air pollution in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug

The main sources of atmospheric air pollution for the district and, first of all, for the city of Naryan-Mar, are road transport, heat power enterprises and municipal boiler houses. The main pollutants are: dust, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, from specific formaldehyde, benz (a) pyrene, phenol. The largest share in the structure of emissions is made up of pollutants associated with the combustion of various fuels.

Radiation environment

According to Roshydromet, extremely high levels of radioactive contamination on the territory of the Nenets Autonomous Area in 2012-2015 were not observed.

Protected Areas

On the territory of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug there are 9 specially protected natural territories with a total area of ​​1,162.9 thousand ha (Fig. 5). Of these, 2 protected areas of federal significance: the state republican zoological reserve "Nenets" - 440 thousand hectares, the state nature reserve "Nenets" - 313.4 thousand hectares. Specially protected natural territories of regional significance are represented by 4 integrated nature reserves (with a total area of ​​402 thousand ha) and 3 integrated natural monuments (with an area of ​​7.5 thousand ha).

In the Nenets Reserve and the Nenets Reserve, the water area of ​​the Barents Sea is 301.9 thousand ha. With its exception, the area of ​​traditional types of protected areas in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug is 856.2 thousand ha, and the share in the total area of ​​the okrug is 5.8%.
